My Journey to HollyWell

In this blog, HollyWell Founder + CEO Holly Rapport reflects on how she started her own business on her terms.

It took as long as it took, and I made it here.

I launched HollyWell in 2023 after over 30 years of working for other people.  Well, I did do some coaching on the side for years once I got my holistic health coaching certificate in 2012. But now I’m ‘official’ and up and running.

We are often under the illusion that we’re supposed to have it all figured out even before we go to college.  I was an English major in undergrad because I loved to read and was already a pretty good writer…but I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up.  And then I got my Master in Public Health in Behavioral Science and Health Education. And other training and certifications. And I tried several careers and learned a lot. And through all of it, I always knew intuitively that I wanted to serve women to be their best selves and to stop being burned by the patriarchy.

I had to figure out my well-earned baggage (aka my life) before I jump-started my dream to be an entrepreneur.

This took years.  It doesn’t happen overnight – and I finally have my “Board of Directors” at my side, which consists of my closest friends and confidants, my energy healer/teachers, my therapist, and others – who serve as a sounding board and the folks I can call when I need guidance or a boost of positive energy.

I also needed to get to the point where I believed I could be an entrepreneur. My Dad and brother own their businesses, and I’ve often joked that I’m the only bozo who works for ‘the man’.  I had to work on believing in my power, my intellect, my business savvy, and my ability to self-motivate.  And focusing not on making money, but on the HollyWell mission to serve my lady tribe, and wanting to be free from the 9-to-5 grind, to have the life I’ve always wanted.

I am a work in progress like all entrepreneurs.  It takes courage and practice to go out on your own.

Is this something that you are also thinking about doing in your own life?  If yes, I encourage you to take some time to think about who you are; not what you’ve been told to be by your parents, society, and others.  Maybe you journal about it; maybe you meditate or take a walk in nature.

But take that time to let yourself dream and figure out what you really love to do – and then you can start taking the leap yourself!
